Freetech Hot-In-Place Recycling Train in Korea Knocked Out American Equipment in a Flash

In August 2017, Freetech Hot-In-Place Recycling (HIPR) Train was moving slowly on the state road in Gwangju, Korea. The carriageway was renovated after the passage of the Train. This was not a usually recycling work, but an honourable debut of HIPR Train in overseas.

Debut of HIPR Train from China

America is known as a developed country with state-of-the-art road maintenance equipment and technology. Hot-in-place Recycling (HIPR) Technology is one of the environmental-friendly methods, which was initiated from American and Europe in the 70’s. Some institutions and private companies in China started to research and develop this application in the 90’s.


Even though the developed countries have ever taken the cutting-edge of HIPR technology, this would be overturned by Freetech with the export of HIPR Train in the end of 2016.


Cooperation finalized in end of 2016


This breakthrough transited the status from importer to exporter of HIPR Train in China, and shifted the paradigm “left-behind in 80’s, following in 90’s, catch-up in millennium” by taking over the lead in HIPR Technology or even the industry of road maintenance in the world.


Korean HIPR Market Leader Favours “Road Doctor”

In the beginning of 2004, Freetech started to research and develop the first HIPR Train, which as accredited as “International Leading” by the Ministry of Transport of P.R.C. More than twenty regions in China are using Freetech HIPR Trains up till now.


Joong Weon Development Co., Ltd. is a leading HIPR contractor in Korea. Joong Weon carefully screened among different suppliers but favoured Freetech the most. It took only a half year from the first acquaintance to be a close partner.

The owner of Joong Weon reflected the reason for choosing Freetech that Joong Weon visited the reinstatement work site in China and was satisfied with the speed of recycling. The all-rounded service capability of “Road Doctor” would be beneficial for further market development.


Speed Doubled to Knock Out American Equipment

In August 2017 the china-made HIPR Train stepped out on the Korean state road. The first export of HIPR Train symbolizes “Road Doctor” reaching out worldwide.


As the market leader, Joong Weon has been serving Korean expressways and state roads with American HIPR equipment. During the operation of Freetech HIPR Train, Joong Weon is astonished by the running speed of 4-6 m/min, which is 2-3 times faster than the American equipment.


“It is very efficient!” a Korean worker said. “American equipment was running 2m/min. Freetech’s can speed up more than double. Now the American machine has been idled.”

High Mobility Highlights Capability

Besides the speed, Joong Weon stresses also on the mobility of equipment. Freetech HIPR Train can move in, finish the job, and move out on the same day, which is safe to other road users. For this reason Joong Weon may develop the business of highway maintenance without the limitation of the original equipment, which could only work on general roadways.


Intelligent and automatic Freetech HIPR Train may be remote controlled


Other than speed, fully automatic and quality operation wins over the American equipment. Heating is the key of HIPR technology. Before using Freetech’s equipment, the heating depth reached only to 2.5-3cm, with frequent burnt on the pavement surface.


In this Korean state road re-surface project, the required working depth was 5 cm. Freetech applied patented cyclic radiation heating panels, which guaranteed the penetration of heat up to 6 cm deep. It is more efficient and effective than other heating mechanism, and will not burn the pavement surface in normal operation.


Joong Weon has completed recycling on three state roads in two months, and more are waiting. With such a high mobile Train, Joong Weon intends to work on city roads, together with “Road Doctor”.
